Hey, just received the latest issue of FK and WOW some layouts in there this month are cutting edge. I just have to share what project's I loved this month.
Before I do however just want to mention two beautiful women and their quest to make our world a better one to live in. Ngaire Bartlam is holding a charity fundraiser for Breast Cancer. She has just topped the 100 mark for donations and prizes - so go check it out on her blog and make a donation. Such an amazing cause for a disease that effects so many women. Shell Lancett, is also raising money for another cause - Cystic Fibrosis - and has created a beautiful canvas that you can bid for on ebay. The canvas is divine and you can get details on her blog - address on my sidebar. If you can support these women, please do, they are trying to make a change in the world, and raise awareness of these terrible afflictions that effect so many......
Onto For Keeps........
Susan Doyle is really blowing me away lately and both her layouts "Flower Girl" & "Grandparents" are really revealing the versatility of this artist.
For a newcomer, Jane Fitchett's work is original and fresh not to mention her little girl is adorable!!
OK I have never been an OTP person. Journals and books are usually my limit and when I see OTP in SM I recoil because I don't feel that the work is very classy and original. (God knows how many people I just offended - Whoops - pls don't take this pesonally!) But FK have included an OTP section and the photography and design of each project is just beautiful. Alicia's keepsake box is not over the top, classic and classy. Same with Ambers photo frame. Its something you would be proud to display in your child's room. Amy Bergman's Clipboard is divine, the photo, colour story and professional photography is to die for. Celeste has completed three very simple but classic photo frames mounted on the wall. I really like Justine's and Jane's OTP, once again not over the top and something that has taken alot of thought, planning and they have both pulled it off with class.
In the reader gallery Lydell Quin has submitted a stunning layout of little McKenzie. I believe that Lydell has only touched the tip of her creative iceberg and you will be seeing lots from her in the future.
There is another layout is this section by Melissa Nunn that is divine. Its called "Mother's are Angels" and I love the originality of the artwork.
Nic Wright's "Touch of Magic" layout in the "Inspired by Section" is fresh and the olive and black are just stunning working together. Georgina is a darling too - such a cheeky smile!
I was very interested to see the A-Z entries finally after so long. Kris Pace's caught my eye ( I know Suz Doyle will love this one) for Colour Fusion. The other one I loved was Jen Hall's. Man - I adore the design, concept, colour everything about it. Check it out - I would have loved to see the whole album.
In the less than $20 article, Jaimie Emmerton's "Adored" is a highlight. Every time I see Jaimie's work it is evolving and getting more daring and beautiful. I also thought Mel Goodsell's Layout in this section was wonderful.
Well for me Kate Mason's "New Addition" layout took my breath away. Everything this girl touches turns to gold. Just beautiful.
So there you have it - a run down of my fav's for Issue #44. I thought that I would include my photo's for the Scrap Queen, not all the pages where photographed, but I really enjoyed doing it - OMG an OTP that I liked doing - Yikes!! I must congratulate Pride Publishing on the artistic photography in this issue, its amazing how a setting or backdrop to a layout or project can make or break it's appeal. The photography just makes the magazine a delight to look at.
Love Life.
Steph xx
Yes the FK"S is just so full of wonderful and talented inspiration. As I have already told you I really loved your scrap journal, so much work gone into it. I'm with you when it comes to OTP items - the thought of it stresses me along, lets just say that's my stretch, but I can certaintly admire the lovely work that alot out there put into these OTP's. Checked out the 'How dare you blog too' from one of my mates Loretta. Love your LO - soft and gentle like your beautiful daughter!
Cheers
